A US Air Force B-52 bomber The US Air Force is planning to fire at least 6 officers and other personnel involved in the Minot Air Base B-52 bomber 'accident'. The incident took place on August 30 when a B-52 bomber armed with nuclear-tipped cruise missiles flew from a North Dakota air base to an air base in Louisiana. The plane stopped for 36 hours on the runway after landing before the nuclear missiles were reported as safe. The squadron commander in charge of handling munitions at the Minot Air Base was fired soon after the incident. Officials say the mishandling of nuclear armed missiles in such a scenario would require not one mistake but a chain of mistakes, to be accidentally taken out of a storage bunker, mounted on the B-52, misidentified on a flight manifest and flown across the US for three hours without anyone noticing. The August 30 incident was the worst known violation in decades of nuclear security rules. Some reports have said that the nuclear arms were to be dispatched to an unknown destination in the Middle East, while others see “the accident” as a conspiracy by hawkish neocons to stage a 9/11 like attack to wage another war in the world.
